    The first time St. Vincent High School’s Mustangs had the football against St. Helena Saturday afternoon, they scored on their second play. The second time they were in possession, it took them half that long.

    Petaluma unleashed a punishing ground attack to overpower Sonoma Valley, 34-0, at Durst Field on a night when the Trojan players capped the victory by hoisting their record-setting coach in front of many appreciative Trojan followers.

    Fullback Ricky Sims rushed for 156 yards and four touchdowns as Petaluma made quick work of the mistake-prone Sonoma Dragons, 34-0, at Durst Field on Friday. It was the eighth consecutive win for the undefeated Trojans, and the 200th victory in the career of veteran football coach Steve Ellison.
