The Petaluma Youth Network is comprised of youth and adults representing families, education, business, government, law enforcement and youth-serving agencies. Over the last two years, the PYN has developed innovative ways to support youth success, closed service gaps and developed new ways for young people to influence the policies and practices impacting their lives.

  • Working together at school

    Friday November 6, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: Thank you for the great article about McKinley Elementary School in the Oct. 29 edition of the Argus-Courier.

  • Torliatt’s candidacy

    Friday November 6, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: “What have you done for the taxpayers of Petaluma lately” is the question voters will pose to Petaluma Mayor Pam Torliatt now that she has announced her plans to run for the seat being vacated by retiring Sonoma County Supervisor Mike Kerns.

  • Frustrated over animal code

    Friday November 6, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: I am responding to June Gerron’s Oct. 22 letter. While I admire her stated passion for Petaluma’s animals and her commitment to civic duty, I think that she is not fully in command of the facts.

  • Health reform untruth

    Friday November 6, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: Just as Congress was getting closer to completing legislation to reform health-care insurance in America, critics of each bill written sprouted like dandelions on a green lawn. Each version of a legislative proposal has its own critics and each its own backers, but critics especially have grown more numerous, louder, ruder, angrier and ever more likely to shout and pound on the nearest table.

It’s heartening to see so many “newbies” involved with Petaluma’s Day of the Dead celebrations this year. From theater productions to art and music, the scale of the ninth annual celebration has brought in many new supporters who previously would have known little about this lovely Mexican tradition of celebrating lost loved ones.

  • Exciting times at local museum

    Friday October 30, 2009 3:00 am

Why become a member of the Petaluma Museum?
I just love that old saying, “What’s old is new again” and I can’t think of a more appropriate quote that would apply to the renaissance taking place at Petaluma’s own historic museum.

  • Thanks to Elks Club

    Friday October 30, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: We were the guests of an Elks Club member Oct. 23 at the “Veterans of all Wars and Confrontations” reunion held at the Petaluma Elks Club.

  • Veterans Day parade

    Friday October 30, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: After having read the letter to the editor by Doug Frampton last week, I could not agree more that members of our City Council who voted to not fund the Veterans Day parade have no business in that parade.

  • Animal agriculture

    Friday October 30, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: Thank you for your Oct. 8 article covering our vigil at the Rancho Veal slaughterhouse (“Animal advocates hold protest”). Our intention was to raise the level of awareness of the tragedy of animal agriculture.

  • Planning for Narrows

    Friday October 30, 2009 3:00 am

Editor: I was wondering what will happen when the Novato Narrows is moved down the road? Petaluma bridge narrows?

  • Caring for cats

    Thursday October 29, 2009 7:59 am

Editor: As the only national organization dedicated to feral and stray cats, we are very concerned by news that Petaluma has adopted an ordinance “regulating” the caregivers of feral cats.
