John (JJ) was born and raised in Santa Rosa, attended Santa Rosa High School, Santa Rosa Junior College and graduated from San Jose State University. He has been a community journalist for more than 40 years, starting at the Petaluma Argus-Courier in 1971. He has worked as sports editor of the Coos Bay World in Oregon and as editor of the Novato Advance and Marinscope newspapers. “Covering sports is a whole lot more fun than covering city councils,” he says. When he isn’t at a ball game, he loves reading, fishing and traveling, especially to the desert.
