Harvest Christian School, in its first year of existence, has quickly made a mark in the local sports world.

The new school completed an outstanding fifth and sixth-grade basketball regular season by defeating Santa Rosa Summerfield, 34-28. The victory finished a 5-0 regular season.

Harvest Christian plays in a league against Santa Rosa Christian, Santa Rosa Summerfield and Sebastopol Christian.

The team was led by the scoring and assist duo of Mitchell Sheppard and Cory Llorence.

“It was an incredible start for a first-year school, with all the players gelling quickly and playing well together as a team ,” said coach Jon Wraith.

The team’s success was fueled by a smothering defense and the ability to rebound and push the ball up the court quickly.

Nick Cafiero, Eric Ziemer, Trey Coles, Harrison Doolittle and Westin Behn combined for double digit rebounds in every game.

Garrett Cain, Louis Gallo, Lucas Parelius, Joey Owen and Josh Carter forced numerous turnovers to start fast breaks.

With the regular season now complete, the Harvest Christian School players and coaches are preparing for the league playoffs and a chance to complete what through the regular season was perfection.
