Friendliness, honesty and a sincere desire to help customers has earned Autoworld Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep service advisor Julie Barone the title of Service Person of the Week and placed her in the running for the Service Person of the Year award.

Barone has worked for Autoworld for the past eight years writing up work orders for customers’ vehicles and making sure everything is handled correctly.

“I treat my customers’ vehicles as if it were my own vehicle,” she said. “I don’t overcharge or charge them for something they don’t need.”

Automotive careers run in Barone’s family. Her father was a car salesman and her brother is the owner of Rich’s Autobody in Petaluma. She also grew up in Petaluma and enjoys being able to live and work in a community she loves.

“I have a lot of customers who are also my neighbors,” she said. “It’s nice to take care of people. I enjoy doing this type of work. I wouldn’t want another job.”

Harry Rogers, one of Barone’s customers, said that she is always helpful, professional and greets customers with a smile. “I have nothing but praise for her,” he said.

Five nominees will be named Service Person of the Week beginning this week and continued through Feb. 19. Then locals will vote on which one should be crowned Service Person of the Year. He or she will be honored in the Argus-Courier and at the 2009 Community Recognition Awards on March 27.

To nominate someone, use the online nomination form at www.petaluma360.com to tell us why you think your nominee should be considered for the service person award. Nominations can cover all aspects of the service industry, but should not include business owners or managers. Previous Service Person of the Year honorees will not be considered.
