“I work in pretty much every area of customer service at the store,” said Roggero. “I enjoy the people. The people are definitely what makes this job great.”

Roggero’s helpful nature and enthusiasm have earned him the title of Service Person of the Week and placed him in the running for the Service Person of the Year award.

An employee of Longs for the past 11⁄2 years, Roggero works primarily in receiving and stocking, which means he is on the floor when customers need assistance.

“Mike goes out of his way to help you find the things you need or check stock if something is not on the shelves,” said customer Diane Falk. “He’s always happy and more than helpful. He’s full of cheer and is a can-do person.”

Another Longs customer, Anastasia Schuster, said, “Never have I seen Michael there where he didn’t have a smile on his face and was exuberantly helping whoever may be coming through his register.”

Roggero got married last summer and currently lives in Santa Rosa. He’s grateful to local customers who thought to nominate him for Service Person of the Week.

“Thank you so much for nominating me,” he said. “I love all of my customers — and we really do have wonderful customers. This means a lot to me.”

Roggero is the last of five nominees for Service Person of the Week. Beginning Feb. 26, locals will vote on which one should be crowned Service Person of the Year. Voting will be done online at www.petaluma360.com. He or she will be honored in the Argus-Courier and at the 2009 Community Recognition Awards on March 27.
