A school alert was sent out to all school employees and parents of students after a man exposed his genitals to an 11-year-old girl near Meadow Elementary School on Tuesday morning.

The girl, a student at Meadow, was walking westbound on Colombard Road and toward the school at around 8:15 a.m. when the man, who was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle, honked the horn. He then exposed his genitals to her for around two seconds, said Petaluma Police Department sources.

After exposing himself, the man drove away eastbound on Colombard Road.

The man was approximately 40 years old, Hispanic, with short, dark brown hair. He had a medium build, was approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and was wearing a black and blue plaid shirt and blue jeans, the sources said.

The vehicle was reddish or burgundy in color, and a late model, possibly a Ford.

Anyone who has information or questions regarding this incident should contact the Petaluma Police Department at 778-4372.
