Rockin’ with Bret Michaels: The Sonoma-Marin Fair performance by Bret Michaels, former lead vocalist for ’80s band Poison, on June 27 was a homecoming for band keyboardist Robert Jozwiak, who spent his childhood in Petaluma. “I lived in Petaluma up until sixth grade,” said Jozwiak, who has been on tour with Michaels for two years. “I went to Two Rock Elementary School back when Helen Putnam was mayor and principal.” Jozwiak, now a resident of Virginia, began playing piano when he was 10. He went on to do some studio work for Micheals, who eventually asked him to join the band. “I was a fan of Poison, so this is a dream for me,” said Jozwiak. The Petaluma show at the Sonoma-Marin Fair marked the end of Michaels’ tour, but the band will be traveling across the country to do some makeup shows. While in Petaluma, Jozwiak took time out to visit his sister, Vicki Jozwiak, and do some sightseeing. “This is my home town,” he said. “I had been waiting for the Petaluma show for a long time.”

Ladies’ night: It was a glorious evening of pampering for Petaluman Claudia Gokcebay and nine of her friends as they were treated to a ladies night at Muse salon on May 22. The special treatment was a silent auction win from St. Vincent High School’s annual student fashion show and fund-raiser, held back in March at the Marin Country Club in Novato. Proceeds from the event went to providing computer supplies and other items for the school. “We heard that Muse was a super salon in Petaluma, so my sister and I were bidding on it,” said Gokcebay. “The price for the night out at Muse kept going up and up, but we knew the money was going to a good cause. We were really happy to win it. We got haircuts and waxing. The salon provided us with champagne and appetizers. It was a lot of fun.”
