The U.S. Coast Guard training center at Two Rock will unveil a four-acre solar array this weekend that will help the facility produce one megawatt of solar power.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony including Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma, will take place Saturday, Oct. 24, the training center said.
The $6 million array, completed earlier this month, is expected to save $1.5 million over the next 25 years, and reduce the station’s greenhouse-gas output by 2 million pounds a year, a spokesman for the training center said.
It will produce 875 kilowatts of energy, boosting the total solar energy production at the training center to one megawatt.
