All the Casa Grande High School girls soccer team had to do was wait to repeat as SCL champion.

Already finished with a 9-0-3 SCL record, Casa clinched the championship Tuesday night, Oct. 27 when Windsor handed Petaluma its first league loss of the season.

The 2-1 loss at Windsor dropped Petaluma to 7-1-3 in league, with a game at Sonoma still on its schedule. Windsor takes second place with an 8-1-2 record.

All three teams are likely headed to the North Coast Section playoffs won by Casa Grande last season. By being league champion, Casa Grande will receive a first-round bye and is assured of playing its first playoff game at home.

At Windsor, Petaluma’s Katie Behm scored late in the first half, to give the Lady Trojans a 1-0 lead, but Windsor battled back to score twice in the second half on two goals by Haley Palmer.

Also Tuesday, St. Vincent’s girls buried Kelseyville, 10-0.
