Veterans Day parade

Editor: After having read the letter to the editor by Doug Frampton last week, I could not agree more that members of our City Council who voted to not fund the Veterans Day parade have no business in that parade.

Not only would it be dishonorable, but it would also be a slap in the face to all veterans. For Councilmember David Glass to make a remark as such stated that we veterans didn’t bring any revenue into the city is not only strange but unbelievable. I can only say that he must have never served in the military and what has he done for his country? Nothing, compared to the servicemen and women who march in that parade with memories like no council member shall ever have.

When I left for Vietnam the first time, I remember Petaluma as a very patriotic community that cared for its service members and veterans, and I couldn’t wait to get back home and raise my children here. Today, if I had to do it all over again, I would not have chosen this as home. Everything seems to be about money, and as a citizen I have watched so much waste and yes, the beat goes on.

I would urge every veteran to be very cautious as to whom you vote for in the upcoming elections for both city and county because what you see is not what you get, and I would even take it to a City Council meeting and ask some hard-core questions. It seems like we have elected some phonies and that needs to change.
