Adobe state park expected to close on weekdays

Although spared from a permanent closure earlier this year, Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park will likely be subject to weekday closures, officials said.
As part of the state’s plan to cut some $14 million from the budget without permanently closing parks, the Adobe will be closed to the public Mondays through Fridays.
The park will remain open on weekends and will continue to host school groups Tuesdays through Thursdays, said Mary Pass, a state parks superintendent.
The park is the site of Gen. Mariano Vallejo’s mud-brick ranch house, built in 1834. It served as the headquarters of the Mexican general’s vast North Bay landholdings and was purchased by the state in 1951.
The weekday closures will likely last at least through the end of the fiscal year in June, Pass said.
