Target shopping center, silk mill hotel on agenda

<p>The Petaluma Planning Commission next week will consider a proposed shopping center and a recommendation to transform a historic factory into a hotel and restaurant.</p><!-- Nothing to do. The paragraph has already been output --><p>The commission will discuss Regency Centers’ East Washington Place proposal, which would include a Target store and other retailers on the former Kenilworth Junior High School property.</p><p>A draft version of the report was reviewed in September. At the meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 24, the commission will consider whether to recommend approval of the EIR and the project to the City Council.</p><p>The commission will also weigh a proposal to transform the historic silk mill on Lakeville Street into a 95-room hotel and restaurant.</p><p>An expanded version of the commission, with two members versed in historic preservation, will also consider the design and architecture of the hotel proposal. The 117-year-old silk mill building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.</p><p>Tuesday’s meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 11 English St.</p><p>— Argus-Courier</p>
