The Petaluma Police Department sent out a school alert on Monday after a man in a pickup pulled alongside two boys walking toward Corona Creek Elementary School, said he knew who they were and then began following them.
The man followed the boys, 8 and 11, for about a minute as they were walking on the 900 block of Quarry Street at around 8:05 a.m. He then drove away on Riesling Road, in the direction of Kenilworth Junior High School, said Petaluma Police Department sources.
Police report that the suspect was a white male, 55 to 60 years old, and had short, gray hair. He was wearing a black baseball hat and a blue jacket. His approximate height and weight are not known.
He was driving a gray, two-seat pickup truck with a company name on the door, in blue writing. The make, model and year of the vehicle are not known, the sources said.
Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect is asked to call the Petaluma Police Department at 778-4372.
