A final meeting on the city’s comprehensive plan for economic development has been pushed to a later date.
A June 30 advisory committee meeting, which was to be the last before the finished study came before the City Council, was canceled this week after City Manager John Brown determined that more information was needed.
Applied Development Economics, a Walnut Creek firm, was hired in November 2009 to determine areas of strengths and possibilities for improvement in the local economy. The study, which will cost $139,000, was due in April, but later pushed back to May to get more comprehensive information.
But Brown says that more comprehensive information is still needed from the consultants doing the study before the final copy is presented.
“It didn't seem like it would be of any value to take it to the committee now,” said Brown.
No date for the final meeting has been set.
“We’re working with the consultants on that and they are happy to work with us (to gather more information),” said Brown.
