Ceremonies, crafts, dancing, music and historical re-enactments celebrating the Russian settlement of Fort Ross will be held Saturday.

The annual Cultural Heritage Day is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Russian American Co. occupied Fort Ross from 1812 to 1841, chiefly to hunt sea otter for the pelts and grow food to supply other outposts in Alaska.

There will be a Russian Orthodox Church service, demonstrations of blacksmithing, spinning, needlework, baking, metalworking and muskets and cannon, along with Russian music and songs and historical talks.

In Fort Ross Cove, there will also be demonstrations of the Native Alaskan baidarkas, or kayaks.

Admission is $20 per car, or $15 for seniors, and $5 per person for vehicles holding 10 or more people.
