Jonathan Newman, 36, first escaped on a bicycle when an officer, not realizing he was wanted, attempted to stop him in the Petaluma Estates mobile home park on North McDowell Boulevard around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Police found the abandoned bicycle and figured out it had been used by Newman, who apparently had been staying in the mobile home park, according to Sgt. Jim Stephenson.

Another officer spotted him on foot about 20 minutes later and tried to chase him down, but Newman scaled several walls and got away.

Newman is wanted on one local warrant and one from Yuba County for assault and violation of probation. Anyone who sees him is asked to call police at 778-4372.
