Someone left an empty, busted-open safe outside of a Petaluma strip mall Monday afternoon and Petaluma police believe it could have come from a recent burglary.
The discarded safe was found at about 4 p.m., sitting in a shopping cart outside of businesses on Lakeville Highway, reported Lt. Tim Lyons.
Its door had been pried off and it was empty.
Police are checking records to see if the Sentry brand, model 2206 was reported missing from any recent burglaries.
Lyons asked anyone with information about the safe to contact Officer Nick Raccanello at 778-4372.
