The Petaluma Rotary Youth Exchange Program is seeking applications for the 2013-14 school year.
Sponsored by the three Petaluma Rotary Clubs, Sunrise, Valley and Petaluma Rotary, this program is open to students ages 15-19. Applicants should be academically above-average students who have demonstrated leadership and the flexibility to experience a new country and culture.
Each year, the three Petaluma Rotary Clubs select both an outbound student and an inbound student. Inbound and outbound students live in carefully screened host family homes. The intent is to give youth an experience of living within a culture and community other than their own.
Outbound Petaluma students will be placed in a country in which English is not the primary language. Students and families interested in learning about the program both to apply as exchange students or as host family may contact Paulie Johns at 981-7363.
The application deadline for exchange students is Oct. 12. Applications are available to download on line at www.culurunner.ca/Portal/Home.aspx?cid=2347. More information is available at www.youthexchange5130.org. Final decisions regarding acceptance and country will be made in December.
