The Petaluma Fire Department received 33 medical and 75 fire or other emergency calls from September 10 through September 16. Here are some of the incidents that the department responded to.
Wednesday, September 12
2:13 p.m. — Firefighters went to Lakeville Highway for an accident. Two vehicles had sustained minor damage and one Petaluma patient was taken to the hospital because of neck pain.
Thursday, September 13
11:18 a.m. — Units were called out to Mountain View Avenue and 5th Street for a motor vehicle accident involving two cars. Three patients complained of pain.
12:04 p.m. — Firefighters went to 1477 Petaluma Boulevard South to investigate a report of a possible hazardous materials spill in the river near the Sheraton Hotel. A barge had sunk up-river and several barrels, possibly containing motor oil, had fallen overboard. Firefighters noted one barrel floating about 100 yards off the dock with a light coating of oil on the water. The barge owner was attempting to pump out the bilge to refloat the vessel. Eventually, they retrieved the barrel, which was sealed and contained only a small amount of material.
Sunday, September 16
11:16 p.m. — Firefighters went to an accident at 420 Ely Road, where a motorcyclist was involved in an accident with a horse. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital.
