A 28-year-old motorcyclist was arrested Sunday after he refused to stop for an officer and tried to hide, Petaluma police officials said.
An officer tried to pull Andrew Dale Smith of Fairfield over at 12:52 a.m. near Spanish Bay Court and Ely Boulevard South for an unspecified equipment violation, Sgt. Ed Crosby said.
But Smith did not stop, and sped away and into nearby Spanish Bay Court, Crosby said. Smith then abandoned the bike and hid in the hedges, he said.
Despite his attempt to hide, the officer quickly found him and arrested the man.
He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of evading police, driving with a suspended license and displaying false evidence of registration, Crosby said.
