A dental specialist Tuesday continued trying to determine the identity of a burned body found in a Redwood Valley area house fire last week, reported a Mendocino County sheriff's official.
Dr. James Wood of Cloverdale was comparing remains to dental x-rays, said Mendocino sheriff's Lt. Greg Van Patten.
Detectives were hoping to have an official identification by midweek.
The victim most likely was the male resident of the burned home on Radical Ridge Road, said Van Patten.
The Oct. 3 fire was the second fatal fire in Mendocino County in days.
On Sept. 29, an elderly Potter Valley father and his grown son died when their mobile home was destroyed by fire.
Van Patten said state fire investigators still were attempting to determine the cause of both fires.
