Absentee voters who want their choices counted on election night need to drop off their ballots at the county Registrar of Voters office by 5 p.m. today.

Mail-in ballots turned in Tuesday, Election Day, won't be counted until after the election.

Election officials had encouraged people to drop off those ballots during the weekend at a variety of locations around the county.

But today, the only place still to turn in the mail-in ballots for timely counting is the county office at 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa.

Voters can stop by between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The office also has a drive-up window.

Election officials expect as many as 35,000 mail-in ballots to arrive in Tuesday's mail or show up at polling places.

Those will all be counted after Election Day, delaying the county's final tally.
