A 70-year-old Point Reyes Station man died Monday after he crashed his pickup into the Nicasio Reservoir, the CHP said.
The 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was westbound on Point Reyes-Petaluma Road when it drifted off the road at about 5:45 p.m. and hit a guardrail, Officer Eric Hohmeister said.
The pickup overturned and plunged into the reservoir with the man inside.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office dive team retrieved the driver and searched for possible passengers. But the driver appeared to be alone and was pronounced dead at 6:42 p.m.
The man's name was not released pending notification of his family.
Witnesses reported seeing the pickup weaving on the road before the crash, according to the Marin Independent Journal.
Point Reyes-Petaluma Road was closed until about 10:15 p.m. between Nicasio Valley Road to the east and Highway 1 to the west as emergency crews removed the pickup from the water.
