Santa Rosa City Hall will be closed all of next week as city workers take their furloughs to coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday.

It will be the second year in a row that most city employees take their eight days of furloughs during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Previously, employees took their unpaid furloughs whenever they wanted, but that created management challenges, explained Human Resources Director Fran Elm.

“Now everyone is going at the same time. It seems efficient and employees seem to like it,” Elm said.
