A 32-year-old Santa Rosa woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, attempted arson and other charges after she allegedly stabbed her estranged husband several times at his mother's Wikiup home, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said.
Sheriff's officials said Jeannette LaFerriere, who has no previous criminal history in Sonoma County, drove to the house in the 5000 block of Carriage Lane north of Santa Rosa, confronted her husband in the garage with flammable material and threatened to burn down the house.
LaFerriere and her husband went inside the home, and when his mother arrived home, she discovered that LaFerriere had a knife in her hand, officials said. A struggle ensued and at some point LaFerriere stabbed her husband several times, officials said.
The mother also was hurt during the incident but apparently wasn't stabbed. Sheriff's Lt. Dennis O'Leary said that when the mother tried to call 911, LaFerriere “grabbed the phone” from her and the mother might have been hurt at that point, he said.
The altercation then ended up outside and neighbors came to the aid of the victims and called 911, officials said.
Arriving deputies found several people trying to detain LaFerriere. LaFerriere's husband and his mother were taken to local hospitals and treated. Their wounds were not considered life-threatening.
