An on-duty CHP officer was back to work Sunday after suffering minor injuries in a crash, CHP officials said.
Officer Daniel Gunter crashed a patrol car at about 10 p.m. Friday in heavy rain on northbound Highway 101 in Petaluma, Officer Jon Sloat said. Gunter was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Gunter apparently hit standing water near a construction area and lost control, although the cause of the crash was still being determined, Sloat said.
Emergency crews extricated Gunter from the patrol car, which appeared to be totaled. Gunter was treated and released from the hospital.
He returned to work Saturday for an overnight shift.
Gunter joined the CHP three years ago and transferred to the Sonoma area last month.
