A suspected drunken driver in downtown Petaluma ran a red light before smashing into a van, causing major damage to both vehicles, reported Petaluma police Wednesday.
No one appeared to suffer serious injuries in Tuesday's 9:45 p.m. crash, reported Sgt. Ed Crosby.
Officers determined Daly City resident Gustavo Mendoza Espinoza, 27, was intoxicated.
Officers arrested Espinoza on suspicion of drunken driving and drove him to the Sonoma County Jail in Santa Rosa.
The crash was at East Washington Street and Petaluma Boulevard North, Crosby said.
Espinoza was heading west on East Washington Street when he ran the light and hit the other vehicle, whose driver was making a legal turn, according to the investigation.
