NORTHRIDGE — Authorities say a small plane from Marin County has crashed landed near a California State University, Northridge soccer field leaving two people on board with minor injuries.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Cessna 206 was en route from Novato to John Wayne Airport on Sunday when it lost engine power over the San Fernando Valley.
Gregor said the pilot tried to reach Van Nuys Airport, but wound up making a forced landing around 3:10 p.m. The plane went down the field, through a chain link fence and flipped before coming to a rest upside down on a sidewalk.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said a man and woman were able to climb out of the wreckage. He said they were in fair condition.
