Junior guard Cetrick Yeanay blistered the nets for a career-high 32 points Tuesday night to lead Casa Grande High's Gauchos to a 72-66 win over San Marin in their season-opening basketball game.

The win began a tough three-game opening week for the Gauchos, who are back in their home gym tonight to face Vintage from Napa and play again at home Saturday against College Park from Pleasant Hill.

Yeanay had plenty of support in the Gaucho win over a good San Marin team, with eight Casa players scoring. Aaron Dal Poggetto gave the Gauchos a big boost off the bench in the first half and finished with nine points, with Kyle Kaupe adding seven.

Kaupe had seven rebounds and Jon Christy six, dominating the backboards in the decisive fourth period.

Casa Grande seemed to be totally in control in the first half, leading at the break, 41-30.

But the Gauchos allowed San Marin back in the game in a frigid third quarter, and had to scramble to rebuild their advantage in the fourth period, outscoring the Mustangs, 25-18 in the last stanza.

Guard Shay Stubblefield led the Mustangs with 18.
