An article in the San Francisco Chronile once stated that Forence B. Padron’s five-acre farm in Petaluma produced some of the best-rated free range eggs and raw milk in the Bay Area.
A Petaluma resident since 2004, Mrs. Padron died on Nov. 20, 2012. She was 52.
Born in Bordeaux, France, Mrs. Padron was raised in a military family and grew up in Hawaii and Denmark. She went to high school in Bremerhaven, Germany, where she was active in track and volleyball.
After moving to Manteca in 1976 and graduating from East Union High in 1978, she attended the University of California, Davis, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in physical anthropology in 1983.
In 1986, she married Scott Baker, and they moved to Pacifica. She continued her education and received a biology teaching credential from San Francisco State University. She taught at SSF and Terra Nova High Schools.
She briefly ran her own travel agency, and was able to take extended trips to South America and Africa. In Pacifica, she was active in starting a community garden, farmers market and organizing two Earth Day events.
In 1999, she received a registered nursing degree from College of Marin, after which the family moved to San Anselmo. She began working the next 10 years at Marin General Hospital’s labor and delivery department.
It was in 2004 that Mrs. Padron was able to realize one of her dreams when the family built a home on a five acre farm in Petaluma. She and the family produced free range eggs and raw milk as Padron Farms.
She was an avid fan and supporter of Petaluma High School sports, Live Oak 4H, and various other local causes.
Mrs. Padron is survived by her husband, Scott; children, Reginald and Mitchel; father, Pete of Manteca; and sister Jennifer of Austin, Texas. She was predeceased by her mother, Maria.
Memorial services were held earlier this week.
