MONTE SERENO — Police say a man was killed and his wife injured during a home invasion robbery in an upscale San Francisco Bay Area neighborhood.

The wife called 911 around 1:40 a.m. Friday to report that the home in the Santa Clara County town of Monte Sereno had been ransacked and the couple attacked.

Police found the husband dead inside although they have not said how he was killed.

The wife was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Neither has been identified.

Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Sgt. Kerry Harris tells the San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/TwvqsM) investigators are still trying to determine whether the attackers targeted the home or chose it randomly, how many of them there were and how long they stayed.
