A 72-year resident of Petaluma, Lee Downing died Jan. 5, 2013, in San Rafael, of natural causes.

Liesolotte Lee Downing
Born in Germany, Mrs. Downing immigrated to the United States along with her family in 1931. After moving to Petaluma, she met and married her late husband of 64 years, William Downing.
Mrs. Downing was a 15-year employee of the City of Petaluma where she worked in the Planning Department.
She was predeceased by her husband and her sister, Jenny Plank. She is survived by daughters Janice Spurgeon and Lynne McGivern of Petaluma, son Paul Downing of Centralia, Wash., seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. No services are planned.
