ALAMEDA — A boater is hospitalized in a Northern California burn center after an explosion aboard his 30-foot vessel at an Alameda marina dock.
The San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/VL4RGr) says 30-year-old Josh Sailer has burns over 20 percent of his body. He's hospitalized in the burn unit at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose.
Sailer was in the cabin of his boat Thursday afternoon when there was an explosion, possibly caused by a gas stove.
Alameda fire division chief Doug Long says Sailer ran from the cabin and jumped into the water to extinguish flames enveloping his body.
