A man driving a stolen car led CHP officers on a car and foot chase Sunday afternoon, ending at a teen clothing store in the Santa Rosa Plaza, where officers struggled with the man before taking him into custody, the CHP reported.
Before being subdued, the man threw a clothing rack at an officer, hitting him in the chest, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
The chase began at about 1:20 p.m. after an off-duty Santa Rosa police officer tipped the CHP to a possible stolen car spotted in south Santa Rosa.
CHP officers followed the driver onto northbound Highway 101 and tried to pull him over. But the driver headed west onto Highway 12, exited at Dutton Avenue and turned downtown on West Third Street. At Wilson Street, he crashed the Chevrolet Aveo into a light pole and ran toward the shopping mall, where he was chased by officers into the Forever 21 clothing store.
Kevin Keow, 32, of Rohnert Park was arrested on suspicion of felony evasion, car theft, possessing stolen property, giving false information to officers, battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, hit and run, violating his probation and driving with a suspended license.
He remained in custody Monday with bail set at $43,500.
