Driver airlifted after Highway 101 high-speed crash near Petaluma

<p>A high-speed crash on Highway 101 south of Petaluma severely injured one man and forced a highway closure for a medical helicopter landing, reported the CHP.</p><p>Novato resident Roddy Morales-Andino, 26, suffered possibly life-threatening injuries in Tuesday's 1:10 p.m. crash.</p><p>Just before the southbound crash Morales-Andino had been speeding and aggressively passing vehicles and changing lanes, witnesses told the CHP.</p><p>As the driver sped passed the Redwood Sanitary Landfill overpass he lost control of his 2010 Volkswagen GTI.</p><p>The car slid into the back of a GMC Yukon.</p><p>That driver, Sylvie Demoreira, 36, of Novato, was able to move her car to the shoulder. The VW stopped across two lanes.</p><p>Officers closed traffic in both directions for the REACH medical helicopter to land and fly Morales-Andino to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.</p><p>The highway was closed for 36 minutes for the helicopter, the CHP said.</p>
