Two young men got into a fight in their Rohnert Park home early this morning, and one roommate slashed the other in the face with a machete, police officers said.
The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety got a call at 3:44 a.m. reporting an assault on the 900 block of Civic Center Drive, according to a news release. The officers arrived two minutes later and found a man, 22, lying on the couch suffering from a severe laceration on the left side of his face and several severe lacerations on his leg. He was taken to a local hospital.
The victim and a third roommate identified Kyle Sorensen, 21, as a suspect in the assault. Investigators said the victim and Sorensen got into an argument, but it was unclear what the argument was about.
Sorensen was booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem. Bail was set at $1 million. The victim’s condition was unknown, and no further information was available.
