An autopsy was conducted Monday on a man fatally shot in a Napa County police chase, reported a Napa County sheriff's official.
Angelo D. Moreno, 27, had been driving a stolen pickup when he got into a short pursuit and confrontation with American Canyon police, officials said.
Moreno was a homeless man who'd been living in the Martinez area, Napa County sheriff's Capt. Tracey Stuart said. Police fired at Moreno after he refused to pull over, officials said.
Stuart said the white pickup driven by Moreno had been reported stolen that day in Rodeo.
Whether Moreno was armed, how the shooting occurred and how many officers were involved hasn't been released. Stuart said she hoped to release details this afternoon after detectives finish interviewing people involved.
