OAKLAND — A newspaper report finds that Alameda County's Susan Muranishi is the highest-paid county administrator in California.
The San Francisco Chronicle (http://bit.ly/X5vTYH ) reports county records show the 63-year-old Muranishi earns an annual pay package of $413,000 and will receive a pension equal to her yearly compensation when she retires.
The newspaper reports the county administrator is paid $309,000 in Santa Clara County, $257,000 in Contra Costa County and $259,402 in San Francisco.
Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty says Muranishi is "worth every dime," likening the job to being CEO of a large corporation.
The newspaper reports not all supervisors are comfortable with her pay. Supervisor Keith Carson says "everyone is going to ask what the heck is going on here."
Muranishi did not immediately return a call seeking comment Monday.
