Petaluma police arrested eight motorists Friday night and Saturday morning at two checkpoints set up for intoxicated drivers or those lacking a valid driver's license.
Three motorists were arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and five on suspicion of driving without a license, according to a press release. None were cited for driving while intoxicated.
Three vehicles were impounded for 30 days.
Police screened 670 drivers on Sonoma Mountain Parkway at Wellington Place and another 85 on Petaluma Boulevard South at Crystal Lane.
Funding for the checkpoints was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
