Petaluma High School’s T-Girl softball team stretched its winning streak to seven straight Thursday, defeating Arroyo, 4-1, in the first round of the Stanley Cup Tournament in Hayward.

Dana Thomsen threw the win, allowing just three hits while striking out two and walking none. She received strong defensive support from her teammates, especially center fielder Nicole Wiecks, who made two outstanding catches.

Arroyo scored in the first inning and held the lead until Petaluma rallied for three runs in the third inning.

Brie Gerhardt continued to blister the ball for Petaluma, going three-for-four and driving in a run. Wiecks had a hit and a walk and scored a run. Joelle Krist doubled and walked, while Thomson drove home the three Petaluma third-inning runs with a timely hit.

Petaluma is scheduled to play again Friday night at 7:30 against Balboa.
