SAN LORENZO — A teenage boy has been struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Northern California.
Alameda County Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson told television station KTVU in Oakland (http://bit.ly/ZQhwmq ) that investigators think the boy was playing "chicken" with the train along with two friends before he was hit on Thursday evening.
The boy's age and name have not been released.
The train was traveling from San Jose to Sacramento when the accident happened near San Lorenzo. None of the passengers or crew members on board were injured, although it was stopped for nearly two hours while the investigation was under way and so a replacement crew could be brought in.
San Lorenzo is about 30 miles northeast of San Jose.
