Police were searching for a man who tried to rob a Santa Rosa Radio Shack Saturday night.
Employees of the shop in the 2100 block of Santa Rosa Avenue said a man walked into the store shortly before 9 p.m. and locked the front doors behind him. The man pointed a gun at one clerk. Another clerk ran out the back door, police said.
An alarm that sounded when the back door opened apparently startled the robber, who fled out the back door without taking anything, police said.
The suspect was described as black with a thin build, about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He was wearing a black full-face motorcycle helmet with the front visor pulled up, the employees told police.
Officers on foot and in the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department helicopter searched for the suspect without success.
Police are asking for anyone who may have seen someone resembling the suspect in the area of the Santa Rosa Marketplace shopping center to call 528-5222.
