Public safety budgets
EDITOR: In Tuesday’s paper, you reported on Petaluma’s proposed budget. The allocation for public safety departments is to consume 76 percent of spending. Wednesday’s paper included a report on Cloverdale’s budget with 70 percent going to police. Are these folks keeping us safe or picking our pockets? Sadly, city council members are unlikely to stand up to powerful public employee unions.
