Another record falls for the Casa Grande boys cross country team

The Casa Grande High School boys cross country team set a team school record while dominating a tree-way North Bay League run over Montgomery’s 3.05-mile course at Spring Lake Park. As a team, Casa Grande combined to run 81:26, the 32nd fastest team time ever over the course.

Nicholas Rauch has run well for Casa Grande all season. He was a key member of the Casa team that set a school record in a race against Montgomery at Spring Lake Park.

Casa Grande finished with 18 points to easily best Montgomery (43) and Ukiah (75).

Sophomore Matt Salazar led the Gauchos, finishing first in 15:31, with teammate Nicholas Rauch second in 16:09. Griffin Wigert was fourth in 16:19, Zachary Nussdorfer fifth in 16:39 and Adam Harwood sixth in 16:48.

The Casa Grande varsity girls came within one runner of a perfect score, totaling 16 to 45 for Montgomery and 82 for Ukiah.

Saskia VanOmmeren-Egbert led the Lady Gauchos, winning in 18:57. She was followed by Ileana Moon in 19:13, Adria Barich in 19:28 and Andrea Gonzalez in 19:59. Emma Moon completed the counting Casa runners, finishing sixth in 21:02.

Montgomery won the boys junior varsity run with 28, followed by Ukiah with 50 and Casa Grande with 55. Top finisher for the Gauchos was Anzi Zhu, who finished sixth in 19:20, The Casa Grande junior varsity girls scored a perfect 15 to best Montgomery’s 44 with Ukiah running incomplete.

Alyssa Blakely (23:03), Sara Langdon (23:23), Olivia Wray (23:36), Courtney Accurso (23:47) and Carle (23:48), all from Casa, were the first five runners.
