A memorial service for Petaluma native Alyne Marie Anderson will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 40 Fifth St., Petaluma. Mrs. Anderson died on Nov. 2, 1013.
The daughter of Arthur and Dora Evans, Mrs. Anderson's ancestry in Petaluma dates back to the early 1850s on her father's side and the 1890s on her mother's side. She was a fifth-generation Petaluma resident, born into a large family. She was the ninth of 12 children.
Mrs. Anderson's father was one of the owners of the North Bay Monument Co. that was located on the corner on Cemetery Lane and Petaluma Boulevard North. His artistry in marble and tile is visible in many of the older buildings and churches of Petaluma, and cemeteries of Northern California.
Mrs. Anderson graduated from Petaluma High School in 1943 and married her high school sweetheart, Eric Anderson, in 1946 while he was still in the Navy.
After the Navy, she worked for the University of Colorado while Mr. Anderson finished his studies. They moved back to Petaluma in 2003.
Mrs. Anderson loved music. She sang in the junior and senior choirs of the St. John's Episcopal Church and the Tomales Presbyterian Church for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Anderson; children, Eric L. Anderson of Willits, Leslie J. Anderson of Rohnert Park, and Paul V. Anderson of Petaluma; sisters, Bessie Moore of Sacramento and Blanche Lieb of Petaluma; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kan. 66675.
