A 20-year-old male from Rohnert Park was shot in the parking lot outside of the 7-Eleven on the corner of North McDowell Boulevard and Old Redwood Highway Thursday night, according to Petaluma police.

Sgt. Ed Crosby said the victim was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

“I don't know his condition as of right now, but I anticipate that he'll survive,” said Crosby. “We have a lot of people working on the investigation right now, so I can't comment any further on who the victim is, what the motive for the shooting could have been or any suspects that we're investigating.”

Police were called to the scene shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday night and found a male adult victim with a single gunshot wound to his back. No suspects have been arrested, though police are investigating several leads, said Crosby.

Because the investigation is ongoing, no further details were available.

Check back later for more details.
