A suspected drunk driver led Petaluma police on a brief chase early Sunday morning. Sergio Perdomo, 19, who was already on probation for driving under the influence, is now in jail with bond set at $55,000.
At about 1:40 a.m. on Nov. 24, Perdomo was pulled over for a traffic violation on Payran Street. When the officer approached the vehicle on foot, Payran sped off at a high rate of speed, heading southbound on Payran Street. When he attempted to turn east on Caulfield Lane, he lost control of his car and crashed it into a tree. Perdomo then fled on foot just as responding officers arrived.
After a brief foot pursuit, the officer caught Perdomo, who was charged with a felony for evading a police officer, misdemeanor DUI, misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and a misdemeanor for violating the terms of his probation related to another DUI conviction.
