Petaluma police are seeking information related to two attempted burglaries early Wednesday morning.
The incident began around 12:30 a.m., when police were called to De Carli's Petaluma Butane Distributors on Wilson Street. There, they spoke with a principal at the business who said he headed over after learning the company’s alarm was triggered. Upon arrival, he found the front door smoldering with and flames, but was able to extinguish the fire. Police believe a burglar was attempting to gain entry by setting the door on fire.
At 1:34 a.m., police were just about to leave Wilson Street when they heard an audible alarm blaring at M. Maselli & Sons at 519 Lakeville St., a block away. There, the officers found the front window of the business was smashed, but the suspect fled before they arrived.
Anyone who has information or may have witnessed the incidents is asked to call officer Robert Barnes of the Petaluma police at 778-4372.
