A lifelong dairyman in West Marin, Ronald James McClure was known for his hard work and dedication to operating his dairy.
A Petaluma resident, Mr. McClure died at his home on Jan. 30, 2014 at the age of 83.
Mr. McClure was a native of San Francisco. He and his wife, Arlene, moved from their Inverness ranch to Petaluma in 1984, however, he continued to work until this past spring.
He was a board member of the North Bay Dairy Herd Improvement Association, California Milk Advisory Board, Dairyman’s Milling Feed Co. of Novato and the Sons in Retirement.
Mr. McClure is survived by his wife of 61 years Arlene J. McClure; children, Gayle Crayne of Petaluma, Robert McClure of Inverness and Joan McClure of Fort Bragg; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Fifield.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St. A vigil service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Family and friends are also invited to the funeral liturgy at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Parent-Sorensen. Entombment will follow at Cypress Hill Memorial Park. The family prefers memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma 94952.
